Thank you to all who were able to attend Sunday’s Town Hall meeting about our Campus Master Plan. Here is a brief overview of what was shared.
We will meet again on Sunday, May 17th (4-6pm) to continue this important conversation and prayerful planning for the future. If you have questions, or want the presentation that was shared at the meeting, please reach out to Pastor Dave (dave.bass@gsmlcs.org) or Pastor Roy (roy.peterson@gsmlcs.org).
God’s mission for St. Michael: What would God have us do?
- Bold Gospel proclamation to our congregation and community
- Faithful stewardship of God’s gifts and resources
- Preparing for future generations as others prepared for us
- Unity and harmony in mission and purpose
- Pray not that God would bless our plans but that we would do what He is blessing.
Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Report and Realities
- ~$3.5-$4.5M deferred maintenance on our current campus (per MEP report)
- Growing school with waitlists
- Growing community in Fort Myers
- Facilities not designed and built for current ministry needs
- Relationship between facilities and ministry: space is an issue.
How do we best prepare for the next 30 years of ministry?
Three Faithful Options for St. Michael Lutheran Church to Consider
Option 1: Stabilize
- Maintain our current campus and reach our neighborhood.
- Phased repairs to address deferred maintenance
- Prioritize safety and risks of critical failures.
- No expansion yet
- Investigate possible property acquisition.
Option 2: School Development
- Expand the education ministry.
- Little Saints
- Lower grades
- Upper grades
- Extended care
- Summer camps
Option 3: Mission Expansion
- Redevelopment, relocation or multi-site
