Each age group at St. Michael finds unique ways to serve others, but we also come together as a congregation for opportunities to serve both in our local, regional and global missions.

Local Outreach Events

  • At St. Michael, each age group finds meaningful and unique ways to serve others. Our Kids Sunday School has prepared meals for neighbors in need. Middle school students dedicate a week each summer to serving with agencies throughout the Gainesville area. Women’s Ministry assembles cancer care kits, while our 55+ group partners with local organizations such as Community Cooperative’s Mobile Food Pantry and the international ministry Feed My Starving Children.
  • One of our closest partners is Lutheran Services of Florida, supported by all ages through activities such as toy drives connected to special events and providing Christmas gifts for the Oasis Youth Shelter.
  • While every member and ministry is encouraged to serve locally, we also unite as a congregation to support service opportunities in our community.

Mission

  • Lutheran Women in Mission actively proclaims Christ, supports missions, and equips women to honor God by serving others. Through offerings collected in our mite boxes and special fundraisers—such as our annual Christmas Cookie Fundraiser—we joyfully support God’s work. Together, the women prayerfully decide how these funds are used, providing scholarships for future church workers and supporting mission efforts around the world.
  • International Missions: St. Michael has a rich history of international mission work—first in Liberia, then as a pioneer for the Lutheran church in the Dominican Republic, and at times in partnership with local churches serving Haiti.
  • Whether through special offerings, gathering needed items, or sending teams to serve alongside our brothers and sisters abroad, we continue to reach across boundaries and generations to share the peace of Christ.
